We're looking for an experienced Portfolio Manager (aka Principal Program Manager) to oversee several project portfolios and lead initiatives from business case development through to delivery and long-term benefits realization. You will play a key role in partnering with business leaders to develop strategic initiatives, manage portfolio delivery, and ensure project investments deliver value to the business.

You'll be recognized as a PMO expert within the company who anticipates internal and external business challenges and/or regulatory issues. You'll often recommend process, product or service improvements and solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the

business. This requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions.

Responsibilities:

Portfolio Strategy and Ideation

  • Support strategic planning activities and alignment of new opportunities to business strategy.
  • Partner with Business Unit and IT leaders to identify new investment opportunities, build business cases, analyze benefits, and define KPIs.
  • Define mobilization readiness of initiatives by assessing delivery risks, resource availability, business constraints, and cross-functional dependencies. This impacts direction and resource allocation for programs, projects, and services.
  • Develop strategies for portfolio governance and execution to support projects with notable risk and complexity.

Delivery Oversight

  • Oversee delivery of all projects within Business Unit portfolios to ensure proper controls and project management are effective.
  • Proactively resolve project escalations and roadblocks which impact realization of business benefits within the portfolio.
  • Coordinate and recalibrate portfolio delivery based on cross-functional dependencies, changes to business strategy, and portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate with PMO leadership to improve delivery best practices, processes, and tools to advance overall team performance.

Post-Delivery Benefits Realization

  • Monitor and track long-term benefits realization of completed initiatives to assess true value added to the business.
  • Drive adoption and embed changes into the business to maximize benefits of project initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement of delivery framework and portfolio management through lessons learned sessions / after action reviews.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to executive leadership by thinking holistically, being proactive, and operating 2 steps ahead.
  • Generate comprehensive reports and executive level presentations for stakeholders and key leadership teams, clearly communicating investment decisions and portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments and cross-functional teams including business operations, product management, development teams, and IT organizations.
  • Negotiate resolution of competing business priorities among challenging stakeholder groups and drive alignment within business leaders.

Qualifications Required:

  • A bachelor's degree or related work experience. Work related experience must consist of project AND portfolio management experience.
  • Minimum of 12 years of combined Project, Program, and Portfolio Management experience
  • Proven experience working directly with C-level executives to develop and communicate strategy goals
  • Experience with non-technical, process and operations-related projects is a must
  • Strong understanding of benefits management, project portfolio management, and financial management.
  • Experience with industry standard project portfolio management techniques, tools, and best practices.
  • Experience managing complex projects including integration activities across multiple work streams, multiple suppliers, and customer resources, partnering with external vendors and software providers.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues. Requires communication of complex ideas, anticipation of potential objections, and persuasion of others, often at senior levels, to adopt different points of view.
  • Ability to understand business and technical requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP, PgMP, and/or PfMP Certifications a plus
  • Proficient user of PPM tools such as Workfront and/or Jira.
  • Consulting experience in Big 4 or Management Consulting a plus
