We have a fantastic opportunity for a Software Engineer Intern to join our Substance 3D business area based in Clermont Ferrand.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented and passionate Software Engineer Intern with a good knowledge in software development to help plan, design and develop software enhancements related to the desktop application Substance 3D Designer.
Rewarded by a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Los Angeles in 2023, Substance 3D Designer is the reference application used to build procedural 3D materials for many industries such as Video Games, VFX, Industrial Design, Fashion, Automotive.
You will be part of a very motivated team, passionate by 3D Arts and by providing high quality software to 3D technical Artists. You will work in very good conditions with respectful people that are taking care to each other.
The internship will be co-located hybrid. This means that the intern will work between their assigned office in Clermont-Ferrand and home. Interns will be based in Clermont-Ferrand where they will get the most support to ensure collaboration and the best employee experience. Managers and their organization will determine the frequency they need to go into the office to meet priorities.
What you'll Do
- Develop and craft new features in collaboration with other developers, UX designers and product owners.
- Participating in all aspects of software development activities, including design, coding, code review, testing, bug fixing, and code/API documentation.
- Take maintenance and testability into account during implementation. Write unit and functional tests.
- Collaborate with engineers and participate in daily stand ups and weekly meetings (design review, technical exchange, etc.).
- Grow with the support of your team and help others on the team grow by providing thoughtful feedback and uplifting those around you.
- Work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced development team, with clear, positive, and constructive communication.
What you need to succeed
- Currently enrolled full time and pursuing a Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience required with an expected graduation date of Summer/Fall 2025
- Ability to participate in a full-time internship between Spring and Fall 2025.
- Good computer science fundamentals
- Good design, debugging and problem-solving skills
- Good background in C++ and modern C++ (C++17)
- Good understanding of object-oriented and functional programming principles
- Previous related experience in software engineering (applicable coursework, personal projects, internships, etc.)
- Ability to work in coordination with different teams
- Ability to communicate efficiently and with honesty structured ideas
- Ability to learn new technologies and to maintain a high degree of technical involvement
- Willingness to learn in depth usage of our products
- Experience in the following domains is a plus: Qt, modern CMake, Python, 3D
- Speaking and understanding French and English

- 60 minute technical test
- 90 minutes technical interview
- 45 minutes softs-skills interview
