Legal and Commercial Services professionals deliver and coordinate legal, contract and commercial advice and counsel in support of Accenture's or our clients' business, working to manage and mitigate risk and ensure ethical behavior and compliance with laws and company policies.
Job Summary:
The Compliance & Ethics Counsel Manager, Data Privacy is a full-time manager role to be filled by a qualified person with at least 5 years of relevant experience in data privacy, information security and related assessments. The role is part of the Data Privacy team in Legal. It has a focus on supporting our strategic initiatives which include data privacy compliance risk assessments on a global and local basis. An important area of risk assessments is US HIPAA compliance so experience in that field is a must. As many tasks are project related, project management skills are key to the role. The role reports to a Compliance & Ethics Counsel Senior Manager, Data Privacy. Individuals with relevant data privacy experience at a global company in the technology, IT and security sector are preferred. IAPP's CIPP certification(s) or equivalents are preferred.
Core responsibilities:
As part of the Strategic Initiatives functional group ("tower") within Accenture's global Data Privacy team, the role has the following data privacy responsibilities:
- Design, plan and manage risk assessments in the area of data privacy on a global and local level (incl. HIPAA Security Risk Assessments) in collaboration with other Data Privacy team members, other internal stakeholders and leadership
- Create and deliver documentation of risk assessments and regular reporting to leadership and third parties
- Design, plan and manage the remediation activities resulting out of such risk assessments
- Develop and provide privacy guidance (including US HIPAA) to various internal stakeholders including Accenture's corporate functions and Data Privacy team leadership
- Manage external consultants and law firms as required to carry out risk assessments
- Be responsible for developing and delivering relevant procedures, data privacy training and awareness materials, as well as tools, templates, resources and guidance materials
- Lead or participate in complex or cross-functional privacy or data management/governance projects
- Participate and assist in maintaining or updating HIPAA privacy program elements and related documentation
- Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in particular with legal and business teams, and with clients and external counsel, as needed
- Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments including court decisions and HHS guidance related to the scope of the role
- Effectively work with a team of data privacy and other legal professionals and business teams remotely, providing advice and guidance in an engaged, business focused and pragmatic manner
- Actively foster and promote a privacy culture within the organization

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- J.D. or equivalent in law, business administration or information technology
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a data privacy or information security practice in a global multinational company
- CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, CISSP and/or CISM preferred
- Expertise as an assessor, consultant or legal advisor in the area of data privacy and security
- Project/program management and operational skills
- Experience with the management of a global data privacy program
- Demonstrated experience of HIPAA and related laws and regulations advisory
- Extensive experience with data privacy legal compliance or counselling
- Knowledge of data protection laws related to security and protection of sensitive data
- Experience in preparing and delivering trainings and presentations
- Ability to think out of the box
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across various levels and teams
- Consistent verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management and staff
- Good judgement skills
- Team player with the ability to engage teams and encourage a collaborative environment
- Adaptability to changing needs within the business
- Demonstrated leadership in professional setting; either military or civilian
