HVAC Branch Operations Manager

ABM is looking for an HVAC Branch Operations Manager who is goal oriented, self-motivated and has demonstrated leadership skills. As the Branch Operations Manager, you will manage the skilled trade personnel (HVAC Installation Technicians and Subcontractors) who perform retrofit or replacement of our customer's mechanical systems and equipment on projects.  Responsible for the day-to-day operation and administrative of project activities at multiple buildings within a regional territory. Develops and implements cost control measures and schedules to ensure project compliance with customer specifications / contract requirements for all regional projects. Oversees scheduling, execution, personnel needs, subcontractors, equipment and supplies for each project, forecasting and quality control within the assigned regional territory.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate retrofit and replacement projects for assigned regional territory. 
  • Ensure that projects are performed as contracted and at the intended profit margins.
  • Control supplies, equipment, and personnel necessary to meet project and customer specifications. 
  • Interact with customers as require for each project to obtain feedback on the projects and special needs. 
  • Troubleshoot potential problems and concerns.
  • Manage the company’s quality control monitoring and safety programs at the assigned buildings.
  • Conduct quality of installation inspections for projects within assigned regional territory. 
  • Attend ABM training workshops when scheduled.
  • Develop operational improvement plans and implements process changes for projects and project team within assigned regional territory.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and all federal, state and local government regulations.
  • Ensure that all paperwork, including terminations, labor variance action plans, and operational models is complete and accurate and is submitted to the district/hub in a timely manner.
  • Analyze and manage, in a proactive manner, both the financial and the operational performance of projects within assigned regional territory.
  • Ensure that payroll is accurate and submitted to the appropriate payroll personnel in a timely manner and, when applicable, correct any payroll discrepancies. 
  • Work with General Manager to develop an action plan for all invoices that are outside of the contractual parameters.
  • Ensure that vehicle inspections are performed monthly. 
  • Ensure that vehicle maintenance is scheduled and performed on all area vehicles. 
  • Manage and provide leadership to Supervisors, and Lead personnel assigned to projects within the regional territory.
  • Responsible for directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining subordinates; addressing complaints, resolving problems, and terminating employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in HVAC Service operations required
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a service and projects oriented environment.
  • Education and/or training in any or all of the following: electronic/mechanical systems, HVAC, chillers, boilers, building controls systems required
  • High School Diploma / GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Additional certifications are strongly preferred: EPA Certification, OSHA certified, Master HVAC License, and other technical trainings
  • Experience in cost estimating/pricing work required.
  • Must have working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and chemical handling/storage procedures. 
  • Must be able to write reports and business correspondence and effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • PMP Certification (preferred)
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Projects)
  • Basic skills in CMMS software preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are required.
