Summary
The Trailer Mechanic will have a wide skill set that encompasses multiple trades, combining the roles of an electrician, carpenter, welder, and mechanic. They will possess versatile interests and can quickly learn how to troubleshoot new and existing equipment as well as repair and maintain all trailers and trailer accessories within the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot new and existing equipment
- Quick response to urgent maintenance needs of any kind
- Inspection of wiring, repairs, and troubleshooting of equipment is necessary to ensure transportation operations run smoothly
- Repair damaged trailers and maintain safety specific functions such as trailer brakes and drums
- Perform annual inspections of trailer to ensure DOT compliance
- Address any issue found during daily driver inspections to ensure trailer safety
- Support other maintenance functions including light PM work on forklifts
- Minimum 2 years of experience working on Commercial DOT certified trailers
- Working knowledge of FHWA safety requirements
- Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, carpentry, welding and mechanical knowledge of trailer systems
- Knowledge of Low Voltage Electrical systems. Knowledge of wiring trailer lights and welding skills are needed for the position.
- Interpersonal skills to interact with all employees, contractors, and general public
- Attention to detail to ensure all jobs and tasks are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
- Able to work on your own with little to no supervision
- PHYSICAL Stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on systems
- Able to comfortably climb, stand, and lift as needed to complete the functions of the job
- Brake Certification preferred
- Forklift/Automobile maintenance experience preferred
