Summary
The Trailer Mechanic will have a wide skill set that encompasses multiple trades, combining the roles of an electrician, carpenter, welder and mechanic. They will possess versatile interests and can quickly learn how to troubleshoot new and existing equipment. Quick response to urgent maintenance needs of any kind is essential. Inspection of wiring, repairs, and troubleshooting of equipment is necessary to ensure transportation operations run smoothly.

- Basic electrical wiring, basic carpentry, welding and mechanical knowledge of trailer systems such as brakes.
- Preferable would be a Knowledge of Low Voltage Electrical systems. Knowledge of wiring trailer lights and welding skills are needed for the position.
- Interpersonal skills to interact with all employees, contractors, and general public
- Attention to detail to ensure all jobs and tasks are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
- PHYSICAL Stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on systems

- Ability to work in extreme conditions to include, but not limited to, elements, heat, cold, and air particulate
- Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts of varying lengths in time
- The employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, walk and use hands to handle, feel and reach.
- The noise level in the work environment is dependent on location.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. (eye protection, ear protection is mandatory at all locations) Safety shoes/boots that are steel toe/composite toe and have puncture resistant soles are required. It is the employees responsibility to obtain the correct footwear.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision and color vision.
