About the Role:

WWT UAE, is seeking a highly skilled Resident Engineer with extensive experience in storage, data protection, and object storage solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT infrastructure, proactive problem-solving abilities, and the capability to work independently while collaborating closely with the client's IT teams.

• Operate and manage the client's storage infrastructure.

• Support the implementation and migration phases of storage solutions.

• Provide incident management, disaster recovery planning, and support for severity-1 incidents.

• Conduct performance analysis, reporting, and recommend storage best practices.

• Ensure storage infrastructure is optimized for peak performance and adheres to security best practices.

• Operate and manage the client's data protection systems.

• Assist in design reviews and support the migration phase of data protection solutions.

• Draft data protection policies and ensure adherence to these policies.

• Provide incident management, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for severity-1 incidents.

• Operate and manage the client's object storage systems.

• Support implementation, migration, and compliance requirements for data archiving.

• Investigate and help draft data archiving policies and best practices.

• Optimize object storage configurations and ensure adherence to security best practices.

• Operate and manage the client's file storage infrastructure.

• Administer and optimize the file system, manage file quotas, access controls, and file system snapshots.

• Monitor storage utilization trends and plan for future capacity requirements.

• Recommend and implement scaling strategies for the file storage systems.

• Provide ongoing maintenance support for IT infrastructure.

• Liaise between the client's operations and support teams to facilitate issue resolution.

• Manage incident resolution processes and recommend spare parts as needed.

• Ensure all systems comply with industry standards and organizational policies.

• Document and transfer knowledge, including creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Participate in after-hours and weekend maintenance windows as required.

• 15+ years of IT experience, with extensive experience in storage, data protection, and object storage solutions.

• In-depth knowledge of hyper-converged infrastructure, virtualization technologies, and storage protocols.

• Strong troubleshooting skills, proactive approach, and ability to work independently.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant industry certifications.

• Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to improving operations and technology adoption.

• Coverage - 8x5 during the workweek with 24x7 on-call support for severity-1 incidents (Level 3 support)

• The engineer will be managed directly by the client and is expected to integrate seamlessly into the client's environment.

• Regular training and upskilling opportunities will be provided to ensure the engineer remains at the forefront of technological advancements.

• Quarterly reviews will be conducted to ensure the residency services deliver the expected business value.
