About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Operations Engineer who will provide system leadership and support for technical issues & initiatives related to large-scale applications, systems, databases and/or other technical products and services. This person will lead the enablement and rollout of Kubernetes, VMWare Tanzu (PCF) Application Service (TAS), Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated (TKGI), and Public Cloud services related to Azure and GCP. This Lead Systems Operations Engineer will work closely with internal engineering teams to adopt and adapt to best practices and assist partners with troubleshooting with onboarding, migrations to new cloud platforms and day-to-day break-fix activities and upgrades as needed.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead complex, broad impact initiatives including provision of high level systems consultation for the technology teams
  • Work as key participant in large scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure for Systems Operations functional area
  • Review and analyze complex technical challenges, as well as escalated support issues related to core business solutions that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors, such as alternatives, enhancements, periodic systems reviews, or improvements to existing systems
  • Make decisions on technical changes and enhancements
  • Consult with engineering team on change design requiring solid understanding of technical process controls or standards that influence and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with technical peers, colleagues, and mid to more experienced level managers to resolve systems support issues and achieve goals
  • Provide leadership to junior level staff and ensure availability in order to provide support to remedy escalations
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years Cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)/Tanzu App Service (TAS)
  • 2+ years of Linux Administration skills
Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge in containerization technologies/Kubernetes
  • One or more Cloud Certifications
  • Application or Middleware, Java, Tomcat, or relevant Web Technologies support is preferred
  • Storage and networking troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of Splunk
  • Strong communication skills to document root cause updates when needed.
  • Lead a small team and direct lesser experienced staff
  • Ability to document updates, certifications, and updates on Confluence or other locations for customer consumption.
Job Expectations:
  • This position requires on call and includes being paged but is not limited to only when on call
  • Ability to be available when on shift and sometimes includes some after-hours support
  • This position is not 100% remote and is currently a hybrid work option (may be required to work on-site on a regular cadence).
  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship
