Walmart, the Fortune 1, is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Indirect Tax team as a Senior Manager, Tax - Indirect Tax ( Audit and Controversy ) .

The Indirect Tax team at Walmart i s responsible for ensuring the accuracy of transaction taxes charged to customers and members shopping online and at o ur 10,660 brick-and-mortar Walmart and Sam's Club global locations . This team handles the subsequent reporting and remittin g of indirect taxes to thousands of j urisdictions each year . T h e tran s action scale and scope of complexity of taxation at Walmart will attract individuals who are e xcited to navigate undefine challenges and engaged by intellectually stimulating work.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and execut e audit plans for complex audits .


  • R espond to tax authority information document requests .


  • Prepare audits for protest, appeal , and litigation.


  • Negotiate audit results and abatement requests.


  • Document final audit positions and meet with key stakeholders on corrective actions.


  • M anage multiple projects simultaneously .


  • Identify and implement process improvements to help evolve the audit function .


  • P erform data analysis and l everage data to optimize tax strategies.


  • Build strong, positive relationships with taxing authorities to resolve outstanding audit issues.


  • Mentor and collaborate with team members .


  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the Tax organization.


  • Meet with business stakeholders to first understand operations across segments such as retail, transportation, ecommer ce and then t ranslate to taxing authorities.


  • Simplify complex tax topics and issues for internal and external stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate has:

  • Audit and controversy experience underpinned by a comprehensive understanding of the tax laws and regulations of various jurisdictions .


  • 6-10 years of i ndirect t ax experience in sales and use tax, product tax, excise tax, transaction tax, gross receipts tax, and tax technical concepts .


  • Advanced degree or certification ( e.g. JD, LLM, Master's Degree , CPA, or CMI ) related to Taxation .


  • Past roles in industry (retail and/or ecommerce) and /or consulting (Big 4).


  • Proficiency manipulat ing big data and completing complex reconciliations using tax software and technology .


  • Strong tax research and writing skills .


  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and 3 years' experience in accounting, finance, income tax
compliance, or related area OR 5 years' experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area.
1 years' supervisory experience.
