Position Summary:

The Brand & Content Marketing team is looking for an experienced Creative Director to co-lead our creative team as we find innovative ways to increase brand awareness for Trupanion's mission--helping pet parents understand the value of Trupanion pet insurance in helping their pets live long and healthy lives. You'll be central to all phases of the creative journey, from strategy to hands-on execution, as we launch meaningful brand campaigns across the lifecycle, from brand awareness to customer retention.

The Creative Director reports to the Director of Brand & Content Marketing and oversees our internal creative team of visual designers and content writers, as well as design agencies and freelance partners. You'll also work closely with our marketing partners to deliver creative tailored for our Consumer, Veterinary, Breeder, and Shelter audiences. You should have experience with the nuts & bolts of print & digital content creation, but be inspired by trying new things and never settle for what's been done in the past.

The right candidate should have deep experience supporting large, public companies and international brands; experience in the veterinary and/or pet care space is a plus. To succeed, you'll bring a knack for seeing the bigger picture, providing insight and inspiration, and keeping teams focused on the work, not the noise.

This position is open to candidates in the Seattle area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule where you will work from our casual, pet-friendly office at least 3 days a week.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team of Designers, Videographers, & Content Writers and work across the internal team, agencies, and other resources
  • Bring a strong point of view and a passion for storytelling to creative conversations; inspire your team to be bold, think big, and test & learn
  • Build and maintain key relationships with marketing and other business partners by understanding their business goals and developing creative brand strategies, messaging, and campaigns to help meet their goals
  • Partner with other marketing leadership as a thought leader to help shape the creative evolution of the brand and drive executional excellence
  • Provide Brand feedback for creative projects from a variety of teams, using analysis, industry insight, and experience to ensure high quality production
  • Oversee Brand design & editorial guidelines, ensuring they are current, socialized, and consistently used across all design teams for consistent look & feel of all assets
  • Set objectives for the creative team in order to be able to measure and demonstrate team performance to the wider business and stakeholders
  • Work with the Director of Brand & Marketing and other marketing teams to ensure a holistic brand editorial and campaign calendar is available and delivered against proactively
  • Collaborate with business partners and creative project manager to anticipate, source, and assign resources for both active and potential projects, while taking bandwidth, capabilities, and career growth into consideration

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in design or creative manager roles, ideally leading a mix of internal & external resources
  • 4+ years of experience as a people manager
  • Strong portfolio of delivered brand identities and campaigns
  • Prior experience working with international brands and billion-dollar revenue companies
  • Strong understanding of consumer behavior and market trends
  • Extensive hands-on experience using standard design tools for print, digital, video & animated creative as well as project management tools such as Asana
  • Experience organizing and managing teams through the end-to-end creative process.
  • Experience managing brand design production across B2B & B2C audiences and a variety of paid, earned, and owned platforms.
  • Extensive hands-on design management and organizational skills, with an ability to balance multiple requests and maintain communication.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with proven ability to stay calm, quickly understand complex project requirements, briefs, and recognize potential risks and dependencies relevant to resourcing.

Compensation:

  • The pay range for this position is $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 on a full-time schedule.
  • Along with base salary, Trupanion employees may be eligible for monthly bonuses.
  • We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion's success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
