Division Specific Information

Working as part of our Microbiology Division (MBD), within the Specialty Diagnostics Group, you'll play an active part in helping us to achieve our mission to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. The Microbiology Division discovers microbiological solutions for the diagnosis of infectious disease and detection of bacterial contamination. We serve public health, clinical laboratories, food companies, environmental screening and pharmaceutical laboratories with a portfolio of products that include culture media, antimicrobial susceptibility testing solutions and market-leading molecular solutions for food safety testing.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will be working within a manufacturing lab, preparing reagents, intermediates and carrying out testing using standard operating procedures and production documentation ensuring they meet performance specifications and good manufacturing practice standards. Attention to detail and accuracy are key in this role. Full training will be given for all processes carried out by our skilled and dedicated team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture of intermediates and final reagents. Including in process testing.
  • Handling of microorganisms for use in testing
  • Monitoring of stock levels for products that you are manufacturing.
  • Be responsible for the quality of manufactured reagents, completed documentation and ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Use of computerised systems for stock control monitoring to ensure items are available for when they are needed.
  • Highlight any health and safety or quality issues to help support our site safety culture
  • Engage in PPI (continuous improvement) programs as required.
  • Any other duties/projects as are reasonable and within the skills and ability of the post holder.
  • Actively participate in training, which will be given for all processes carried out.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Interest in science and manufacturing
  • Keen eye for detail.
  • To have excellent communication (written and verbal) and organisational skills.
  • Able to learn new skills and display them to a high standard.
