Department Overview
Operational Risk Management (ORM), as an independent team, works in partnership with the business units and corporate functions of TD Bank Group to further the understanding and management of operational risk across the enterprise.
ORM is recruiting for a Senior Manager level position. Our department provides independent Operational Risk Management oversight of the Transformation, Enablement & Customer Experience (TECE) group of functions. The successful candidate will be the subject matter expert in the Operational Risk Framework executing second line risk requirements in support of three lines of defense.
Job Description
This position will report directly to the AVP TECE ORM. Accountabilities include:
- Second line review, challenge and oversight for ORM framework deliverables, policies and standards in line with the Segment ORM (2A) Coverage and Challenge Standard, and the Risk Oversight Mandate.
- Be the primary 2A for the TECE function(s) assigned i.e. NACO, Fraud, Payments, Marketing, etc.
- Maintain a strong understanding of function risks to adequately assess risk exposures and impacts.
- Make sure the TECE function can demonstrate sufficient identification and understanding of key operational risks and has designed appropriate internal controls.
- Create internal processes and provide operational support to the AVP including internal and external deliverables, monitoring and reporting, central intake management for risk monitoring activities, and ORM regulatory commitments.
- Assess and challenge policies and standards, as well as influence and communicate collaboratively with key senior partners within the corporate function areas.
- Work with other risk peers and control functions (e.g. Compliance, AML, Legal, HR) to ensure holistic understanding of key risks.
Job Requirements
- Seasoned risk professional with 7+ years' experience working with risk and control groups/concepts.
- Sound understanding of the Operational Risk Management Framework including three line of defence principles.
- Organizational awareness and demonstrated relationship building skills.
- Ability to demonstrate sound strategic and thought leadership and apply judgement within an environment of ambiguity including ability to constantly prioritizing deliverables as required.
- Ability to influence at senior levels of the organization and implement change as well as manage conflict and build consensus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication.
- Ability to understand and interpret regulations and policies when required.
- Enjoys working in a team environment but can work independently to meet deliverables.
- People Management experience would be an asset including mentoring and coaching team members.
Additional Information
Education & Accreditation
This role requires successful completion of all three levels of TD Operational Risk Management certification. Certification is not a requirement to apply for this role. The successful candidate will have 12 months from the start date in the role to complete required certifications. The required courses are available internally through TD Operational Risk Management.
Undergraduate degree, relevant industry or risk and compliance management experience and/or accreditation.
