Job Description

The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst AML reports to the FIU Canada Group Manager, Quality Assurance in AML and will assist the team in various accountabilities such as:

Review QA Scorecard Adjustment Requests: Assess requests for adjustments to the QA Scorecard results, provide recommendations for dispute resolution and offer feedback to FIU/QA team to ensure alignment and consistency across the process.

Support QA Training and Monitoring: Assist in the development and delivery of QA training and supporting ongoing monitoring activities to ensure adherence to QA standards.

Assist in Monthly QA Reporting and Sampling: Support QA management in preparing the Monthly QA Summary Report and monthly QA samples, while escalating any quality concerns/breaches promptly to QA Management Team in line with the QA Escalation Protocol.

Ensure Timely Remediation of QA Findings: Monitor the remediation of QA findings to ensure they are completed by the FIU teams within established timelines. If issues are not resolved on time, escalate to Senior Management to ensure prompt action is taken.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

CUSTOMER

  • Execute testing Quality Assurance work in accordance with established standards to achieve completion within target timelines.
  • Conduct skilled analytical research and analysis as part of the Quality Assurance engagement and initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with key partners throughout the Quality Assurance engagement
  • Present objective and independent advice & recommendations to control partners on the adequacy of RCM processes and controls in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Execute follow-up of findings raised from testing engagements in accordance with established standards.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and/or input to projects/initiatives as a representative for area of specialization.
  • Proactively identify matters which require additional attention, further escalation, or review, and liaise with the appropriate groups to resolve.
  • As assigned, oversee/lead the Quality Assurance engagement, including communications and the reporting processes.
  • Represent the business internally as a specialist of a given area in AML/ATF, Sanctions/ABAC matters.
  • Provide sound AML/ATF, Sanctions/ABAC advice, recommendations, and guidance to assigned business units.
  • Conduct skilled analytical research, analysis, and/or risk assessment activities as a part of the compliance testing initiatives of the function.
  • Support and understand risk identification, risk analysis and risk mitigation according to the regulatory requirements and best business practices.
  • Ensure AML, Sanctions/ABAC questions and complaints involving violations are resolved by responding and/or escalating any sensitive issues to senior management.
  • Apply expertise in the investigation of non-compliant AML Sanctions/ABAC matters/issues.
  • Provide trend analysis and reporting of AML Sanctions/ABAC findings, review results and issues.
  • Manage relationships with businesses as well as with regulatory bodies to provide timely reporting and analysis on AML/ATF Sanctions/ABAC matters and concerns.
  • Assist the business units with developing/drafting and maintaining written policies, procedures and/or programs/frameworks to minimize compliance breaches and monitor adherence to applicable regulations/ requirement.
  • Prepare and analyze statistical and ad hoc reports, conduct trade/transaction investigations, and approve promotional material where required to ensure AML/ATF Sanctions/ABAC issues are identified and addressed within own area.
  • Assist in managing an effective, on-going AML Sanctions/ABAC surveillance program designed to detect and mitigate regulatory violations and breaches of internal policies and procedures.
  • Complete filings and/or reporting to regulators and/or law enforcement agencies as required.

  • Contribute to the analysis, due diligence, and implementation of initiatives within defined area of responsibility.
  • Adhere to internal policies, standards and procedures, methodologies, and applicable regulatory requirements to contribute to the review of internal processes and activities and assist in identifying potential opportunities to improve controls.
  • Understand the operations of the business unit/area being tested and to identify potential risks and apply information to complete a quality, risk-based engagement.
  • Clearly and concisely document research as required to understand requirements specific to an engagement.
  • Working with control partners, keep abreast of emerging trends/developments and changes to regulatory framework, internal policies, and standards.
  • Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions, and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Provide analysis on issues and effectively communicate results to Testing management and the client.
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite.

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Work independently as a subject matter expert of the functional area and/or business are supported and applicable regulatory requirements, and may coach and educate others.
  • Oversee and/or independently perform work from end to end.
  • Execute on more complex and/or non-standard requests.
  • Undertake and complete a variety of projects and initiatives, may include the integration of cross functional processes within own area of expertise.
  • Performs complex analysis and reporting.
  • Generally, reports to a manager role

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • ACAMS and/or ACFCS preferred.
  • 5+ Years experience in AML investigations experience and STR filing experience.

SKILLS

  • Strong Suspicious Transaction Reporting (STR) filing and writing experience.
  • Understanding of related regulations, such as the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA)
  • Experience with a wide variety of ML/TF risks for multiple customer/product types and a solid ability to articulate the risks and your findings in a recommendation summary.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to professionally manage questions and/or concerns escalated by partners.
  • Excellent technical and computing skills: including the ability to use various searchable databases and Microsoft Office software.
