Department Overview
The independent Specialized Operational Risk Management (SORM) teams work in partnership with the business units and corporate groups of TD Bank Group to further the understanding and management of operational risk across the enterprise.
Governance and Operations coordinates operational functions and business practices across the Non-Financial Risk Management ORM teams. The role partners with key second line stakeholders across non-financial risk management and the enterprise to coordinate and support key risk practice and strategic business priorities. The Specialist has key accountability as the owner and organizer of risk activities across Governance and Operations and is responsible for managing, coordinating, communicating, and tracking business activities and calendars.
Job Description
The Governance & Operations Group Risk Specialist will provide a diverse range of strategic and/or operational support to mobilize the Governance and Operations strategy. This role will have the following accountabilities:
- Support the development and management of risk with the following:
- Remaining up to date with existing and upcoming internal and external requirements and operating standards, to enable short- and long-term objectives
- Performing governance across the implementation of internal and external requirements
- Management and facilitation of operational risk activities, including planning, scheduling and tracking of milestones
- Establish and provide on-going analysis and reporting on operational risk and/or other major risk categories as applicable, interfacing with executives and senior management as needed
- Identify issues requiring investigation, determining solutions directly or in consultation with relevant stakeholders as necessary. Provide meaningful insight and information in response to issues or questions raised.
- This role will primarily focus on the management of reporting activities, though will also require involvement in other areas of risk practice
Job Requirements
- Ability to proactively identify potential risks or areas of concern and ensure escalation to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Proven ability leading strategic and business planning activities in large, complex, pan-enterprise programs.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with ability to transform content into digestible, simple, and clear communications as needed.
- Able to navigate relationships, collaborate and influence stakeholders across 2LoD.
- Ability to juggle the priorities of multiple activities and stakeholders to meet diverse and sometimes conflicting deadlines / priorities.
- A self-starter with ability to stay focused under pressure, demonstrating resilience in challenging situations.
Additional Information
Education & Accreditation
- This role requires successful completion of all three levels of TD Operational Risk Management certification. Certification is not a requirement to apply for this role. The successful candidate will have 12 months from the start date in the role to complete required certifications. The required courses are available internally through TD Operational Risk Management.
- Undergraduate degree in Business or Technology related discipline.
