EMBEDDED SOFTWARE VERIFICATION ENGINGEER - EL SEGUNDO, CA

In this senior role, you will be responsible for the verification and validation of Fly-By-Wire software in adherence to DO-178C standards. You will play a key role in designing, reviewing, and executing requirement-based tests to verify software integrity. Additionally, you will contribute to developing certifiable flight automation technologies and cost-efficient processes within the evolving Urban Commercial Aviation industry.

  • Develop and review low-level requirements in Polarion (based on high level requirements and design documents), aligning with DO-178C objectives.
  • Perform software verification through requirement-based test cases
  • Collaborate with systems engineers and the Designated Engineering Representative (DER) to support SOI audits and certification processes.
  • Collaborate with the software and verification engineers to improve the requirements and
  • Participate in the creation of low-level software requirements and Software Requirement Documents (SRD).
  • Support the development and execution of low-level software testing using LDRA, C/C++, and Python.
  • Develop software verification plans, execute the test procedures and document test results to ensure software requirements are met

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in software verification within Aerospace/Avionics or Flight Control Systems.
  • Proficient in C/C++ and Python for embedded software development and testing.
  • Experience with DO-178C standards, especially in software requirement development and requirement-based test creation.
  • Hands-on experience with low-level requirements tools like Polarion or DOORS.
  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively communicate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in software verification and validation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience with RTOS and familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, RS232, and ARINC429.
  • Proficiency in LDRA, MATLAB, Simulink, and dSPACE for testing and verification workflows.
  • Previous experience working with DER/FAA and certification processes.
  • Knowledge of model-based development conforming to DO-331 for the design and verification of Fly-by-Wire operational flight software.
  • Develop, write, and review low-level requirements and requirement-based test cases in Polarion or DOORS to verify embedded flight software, aligning with DO-178C objectives.
  • Perform software verification through unit testing, debugging, and implementing test solutions.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers and the Designated Engineering Representative (DER) to support SOI audits and certification processes.
  • Participate in the creation of System Design Documents (SDD) and Software Requirement Documents (SRD).
  • Support the development and execution of low-level software testing using LDRA, C/C++, and Python.
  • Develop and maintain test drivers, primarily using Python.
