Business Intelligence Intern

We're currently recruiting a Business Intelligence (BI) Intern for Simulation & Testing Solutions (STS) business segment within Siemens. As a BI Intern, you will be directly responsible for working with the process & architecture team to load and migrate the data into our data warehouse from a variety of business systems, develop new dashboards as well as improve our existing production dashboard functions

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the migration of data from our existing on-premise Data Warehouse (Vertica) to a cloud-based Data Warehouse solution
  • Apply critical thinking to ensure data integrity and quality control is applied to each dataset, model, and other analysis prior to presenting to the internal customers
  • Develop ETL/ELT (Extract, Transform, and Load) pipelines to efficiently process and transfer data between systems
  • Create new interactive and insightful Dashboards in tools such as Tableau, Atlassian Analytics, and Power BI, and service existing dashboards to meet business requirements
  • Extract data from diverse sources, including but not limited to relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), JSON, MongoDB, CSV files, structured and unstructured files, and REST APIs

ORGANIZATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Studying for a degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • Solid understanding of DBMS concepts such as relations, keys, and views
  • Commanding grasp on SQL (DDL, window functions, CTEs etc.) and familiarity with one programming language such as Python
  • Working knowledge of at least one ETL Tool (Pentaho, Alteryx, Talend, Informatica etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server (>2021)
  • Ability to perform Data Cleaning and Data Visualization
  • Sharp and tenacious troubleshooting skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Dedicated team player who enjoys working closely with others

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience with Data Warehouses
  • Understanding of Star and Snowflake Schemas terms. Student interns may or may not receive college credit or a grade for their internship experience.
