We are searching for a dynamic Refrigeration Mechanic for our Pratt & Whitney West Palm Beach, FL site. This position will work closely with the Maintenance team. This is a 1st shift position (Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm)
What You Will Do
Assemble, install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and modify equipment and associated apparatus for refrigeration, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and building automation systems. Assist with operations and monitor HVAC and related equipment to assure air quality throughout the plant.
Troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
Inspect equipment rooms, taking readings as required.
Perform preventative maintenance and a variety of pneumatic controls and HVAC equipment.
Receive and respond to trouble calls and alarms.
Maintain, operate, repair and service recovery equipment and recover refrigerant.
Follow all Company, Federal and State Environmental and Safety Regulations and procedure.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Works from wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, sketches, prints, operating manuals, and other written materials, and/or verbal and direction.
Help to troubleshoot various types of HVAC/R equipment malfunctions to identify and correct issues. Initiates follow-up actions as required.
Occasionally work under close direction on the climate control and the manufacturing process needs of the facility through the building management system.
Makes daily inspection and repairs.
Installs and/or modified as needed HVAC related piping
Notifies supervision when major and extensive repairs or modifications are necessary.
Retrieves material and stock for all assigned work.
Maintains a clean work area.
Performs preventative maintenance on a variety of HVAC equipment including valves, cooling towers, chilled water pumps, chillers and heaters.
Maintains records, moves materials, and follows safety rules in performance of duties.
Performs other similar duties as required or directed.
Machines, Tools, and Equipment used, includes but not limited to: A variety of hand and power tools associated within the HVAC/R trade. This includes recovery and reclaim, refrigerant manifolds, pressure regulators, vacuum pumps, oil pumps, digital scales, psychrometer, thermal imaging, electric drills, pipe and thread cutting equipment, wheel pullers, soldering, step ladders and extension ladders, pry bars, bending and flaring tools, and other related tools. Also, thermometers, leak detectors, pressure gauges, air flow meters/hoods, multimeters, brazing equipment, reamers, and aerial/scissor lifts.
This is a 1st Shift , Monday -Friday , 7:00am-3:30pm. This is a Labor Grade 4.
Qualifications You Must Have
HS Diploma or GED
Two (2) years' Trade School Experience.
Current #608 EPA Universal Certification
Must obtain one of the following: NATE Certification, Journeymen Status or Associates degree in HVAC/R
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer
Requires a well-rounded knowledge of refrigeration and AC principals, and the construction and operation of industrial type air conditioning installations, refrigeration system components and applications and application of pneumatic and electrical/electronic controls.
Must be able to read electrical and refrigeration drawings and schematic diagrams and to use various meters, gauges and leak detection equipment
Good computer skills
Works well with others
Has a track record of being reliable and dependable
Ability to communicate, effectively read and interpret safety procedures.
