The Design Engineer, Aftermarket Engineering works closely with internal cross-functional organizations and external customers to generate timely, innovative, and cost-effective solutions to introduce new customer-requested configurations, resolve product reliability issues, or resolve issues preventing fulfillment of aftermarket orders on Collins Aerospace Seating products.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Provide engineering support to internal customers supporting the overall Collins aftermarket business including Operations Support Engineering for product manufactured on-site or at off-site locations.
  • Provide engineering support to external customers requesting technical publications, product clarification, support for product issues including support for Aircraft On Ground (AOGs).
  • Gather historical product information to assist in providing technical support or quoting of future efforts.
  • Provide engineering support within target lead times.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, SME's, Project Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Certification Engineers to develop optimized solutions considering numerous design constraints and requirements.
  • Work with compliance teams to ensure engineering solutions comply with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Present proposed solutions to a broader cross-functional team to solicit feedback.
  • Set up and conduct testing to perform root cause analysis or qualify new product configurations.
  • Review and update engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BoMs) to support spare part production, or develop drawings and BoMs to support new part creation in light of customer requests or as a resolution to product reliability issues.
  • Initiate Engineering Change Notices (CNs) to release new and/or updated designs.
  • Support Material Review Board (MRB) as a representative of the Engineering organization. Provide dispositions for non-conforming product.
  • Support quotation efforts for new customer requests or for larger-scope engineering efforts.
  • Support continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform numerous other tasks to support the department as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

  • Strong knowledge of drawing/modeling requirements and the ability to meet industry standards.
  • Strong mechanical design aptitude
  • Knowledge of Seating certification and qualification requirements
  • Root Cause Analysis experience
  • Experience with MRB
  • Experience using MRP systems
  • Experience with PLM software
  • Experience with Unigraphics NX or similar CAD programs
  • GD&T
  • Basic knowledge of material types and their respective properties.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and challenges associated with those processes.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to develop solutions that best serve multiple functional groups.
  • Ability to work with remote resources from varying locations including Philippines and India

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
