Theatrical Production Manager, Camp Half-Blood West

This is a seasonal part-time position requiring flexible availability between March and May 2019, and then fixed availability when camp is in session (see below for dates and locations).
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Creative, versatile Quest Managers to lead the execution of our campers’ Quest adventure experiences.
You must be able to help create a unique yet consistent world of monsters, myths, and magic that will transport the kids out of the normal mortal world, all while adapting around the site-specific opportunities and challenges of working in outdoor public parks.
You should have a unique vision and passion for storytelling, as you will be instrumental in creating the kids’ story experience at camp.
You should have strong leadership skills and experience in managing actors, designers, and production crew.
You should be comfortable working in an extremely fast-paced environment and working outdoors in the summer for full days, 5 days a week for up to 10 weeks.
You should be adaptable and flexible as well as organized and efficient.
REQUIREMENTS:
Completed or pursuing a degree in Production/Stage Management, or equivalent professional experience
Experience in managing or directing children’s and/or outdoor theatre strongly preferred
Basic knowledge of Greek (and other) mythological stories, as well as the Percy Jackson novel universe, is preferred
Examples of past projects managed, as well as samples of past design work if applicable
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Director during actor casting and hiring, including:
Scheduling auditions and callbacks
Facilitating casting session logistics
Collecting onboarding info/paperwork for new hires * Schedule actors, designers, and production crew for production meetings, rehearsals, and performances
Manage communications between all Quest departments, including creating and sending daily calls, notes, and changes
To track, collect, and submit payroll information to the payroll supervisor in a timely manner
Assist Quest Director in designing the site-specific environments for scenes and story interactions at the designated park location
Assist Quest Director during rehearsals, including running through scenes and interactions with actors and taking detailed notes in case an actor needs to be replaced last minute
Facilitate actor placement/movement, prop/costume tracking, staff lunch delivery/timing, and other management responsibilities during “performances” on Quest days
Manage a small team of production assistants and runners on Quest days
Beyond the “backstage” and administrative side of Quest productions, The Quest Production Manager will also have responsibilities on the camper-facing side, including:
Storytelling interactions directly with campers ages 7-12
Facilitating the interactive guidance of campers from camp to Quest scenes
Discussions with campers about their experiences during Quest interactions
COMPENSATION & ADDITIONAL INFO:
This position is paid at an hourly rate of $18 per hour

Pre-season: Flexible hours outside of scheduled production meetings, trainings, and rehearsals
In-season: Fixed schedule during summer season; dates and hours vary by location, see below for schedule:
CHB Brooklyn (Prospect Park, 10 sessions): June 17 - August 23
Average of 30 hours per week * CHB North (Inwood Hill Park, 6 sessions): July 8 - August 16

CHB DC/Maryland: see below
CHB West (New Jersey): see below
Camp Half-Blood is expanding to three new cities for Summer 2019: Philadelphia, Washington DC/Maryland, and West Orange, New Jersey. Preference will be given to candidates willing to travel to ALL THREE locations as Quest Managers for the following dates:
CHB Philly (2 sessions): June 10-21
CHB Washington DC/Maryland (2.5 sessions): June 24 - July 3 (no camp from July 4-5)
CHB West (South Mountain, New Jersey, 6 sessions): July 15 - August 23
Housing and transportation available for non-local Managers. Willingness to travel is not required to apply, but strong preference will be given to candidates willing to commit to all three locations.
