Responsibility

Activities:

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate and ensure effective delivery of R&D chemistry studies.
  • Manage a team of radiochemists.
  • Provide radiochemistry expertise and perform labelling feasibility that may require development or implementation of new radiolabelling methodologies.
  • Build a strong scientific capability in R&D Chemistry to support the overall business growth objectives.
  • Ensure relevant policies and procedures are up to date and adhered to.
  • Ensure operational efficiency within the R&D chemistry labs.
  • Establish and maintain an effective internal multidisciplinary team that supports and drives customer interaction.

Specific Activities

  • Manages a team of highly skilled chemists at BSc, MSc and PhD level or equivalent to ensure delivery of assigned radiolabelling feasibility and preclinical studies to agreed standards and timelines.
  • Leads and delivers assigned studies to agreed standards and timelines, communicating effectively with both internal study teams and sponsors.
  • Identifies, develops, implements and supports added value technologies to expand Perceptive's service offering aligned with the Preclinical Strategy.
  • Responsible for training and supervision in the R&D Chemistry areas.
  • Develops and maintains necessary expertise to meet Perceptive's business requirements.
  • Support the international standing of Perceptive Discovery through publication and presentation of results in journals and at symposia.
  • Liaises closely with Head of Clinical Chemistry to ensure efficient clinical translation.

Functional Competencies (Technical knowledge/Skills):

  • PhD or equivalent and demonstrably suitable skill set appropriate for the role in a relevant chemistry discipline.
  • Excellent knowledge of chemistry techniques as applied to commercial and academic PET research.
  • IT literate with good understanding of appropriate software packages.
  • Ability to train others in radiolabeling techniques.
