We are currently seeking a Oracle Database Engineer to join our team in Remote, Karnātaka (IN-KA), India (IN).
Preferred Experience:
- Ideal candidate has been supporting traditional server based relational databases (Oracle primarily and MySQL secondary) for over 5+ years out of which last 3+ years in public cloud environments (Azure).
- Working knowledge of cloud computing, networking, and storage principles with focus on either Azure or AWS
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle Database software 12c/19c across various environments.
- Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and monitoring.
- Design and implement robust backup and recovery strategies for Oracle databases.
- Implement and manage security measures, including user access controls and auditing.
- Apply patches and updates to ensure Oracle databases are up to date and secure.
- Knowledge of high availability solutions, such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Datagaurd.
- Plan and execute upgrades to newer Oracle Database versions and migrate databases between servers.
- Perform efficient database cloning and refreshing for testing and development purposes.
- Monitor and plan for database capacity to accommodate future growth.
- Diagnose and resolve complex database-related issues and incidents.
- Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager for comprehensive database management.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate database-related updates.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for databases and processes.
- Strong planning, deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting experience in high availability
- Expert in setting up health-checks and troubleshooting of Oracle backups, restores and recovery models
- Able to work on On-Call rotations and provide 247 shift hours support at L2 level
- Able to work independently in a project scenario and do POCs
- Passion for delivering timely and outstanding customer service
- Ability to work independently, with little or no direct supervision.
- Great written and oral communication skills with internal and external customers
- Strong ITIL foundation, Continual Service Improvement and Total Quality Management experiences

Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of overall operational experience on Oracle database
- 3+ years of Azure/AWS experience as a cloud DBA in a 247 production support model
- Shell scripts for Monitoring like 'slow queries', replication lag, nodes fail, disk usage. etc
- Backup and restores (Backups should be automated with shell scripts/Ops Manager)
- Database Health check (Complete review of Database slow queries, fragmentation, index usage. etc)
- Maintenance (Data Centre outages etc)
- Architecture design as per the Application requirement
- Segregation of duties (User Management - designing User roles and responsibilities)
- Participating in DR (Disaster Recovery)/COB (Continuity of Business) plans as applicable
- Database Profiling, Locks, Memory Usage, No of connections, page fault etc.,
- Export and Import of Data to and From Oracle datapump,
- Monitoring of Various issues related with Database,
- Monitoring at Server, Database and Various Monitoring Tools related to Oracle,
- Database software Installation and Configuration in accordance with Client defined standards.
- Database Migrations and Updates
- High availability solutions and recommendations
- Hands on experience in Root cause analysis for business impacting issues.
- Experience with SQL,SQL Developer,TOAD,Pgadmin,
- Experience with python / powershell scripting - preferred
- Secondary skill in MySQL/postgresql/DB2 - preferred
- Good understanding of PAAS and RDS databases
Preferred Certifications:
- Azure fundamentals certification (AZ-900) - REQUIRED
- Azure Database Certification (DP-300) - desirable
- AWS Certified Database Specialty - preferable
- Oracle OCP
B.Tech/BE/MCA in Information Technology degree or equivalent experience
