Job Description

We're hiring an experienced Medical Director to lead our Employee Health (EH) department!

This role is crucial in developing and implementing strategies to enhance the health and well-being of our workforce while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategic vision and direction for Employee Health (EH), in collaboration with the administrative Director, EH.
  • Find opportunities to improve the performance of EH, including the employee (patient) experience with EH.
  • Build trusted relationships across MSK and represents EH to outside entities.
  • Participate on and/or reports to various internal Committees,
  • Collaborate with various institutional departments to strengthen and support MSK’s strategies.
  • Enhance employee health and productivity, including policies for infection control, environmental safety, reasonable suspicion of impairment, and pertinent public health issues.

Clinical Excellence and High-Quality Performance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies and practice standards for high quality occupational health services.
  • Hold responsibility for the quality of medical care delivered by EH.
  • Deliver clinical care to employees, particularly in difficult or complex cases. Provide coverage in the EH clinic as needed.
  • Take night and weekend on-call responsibilities in rotation with other EH clinical providers
  • Recruit, retains, and supervises APP’s, nurses, other attendings and psychologists in EH to provide opportunity for growth and education.
  • Provide direction and counsel to EH clinical staff on clinical issues that arise.
  • Develop periodic and ad hoc analyses regarding the quality of EH programs, incident tracking and trending, and exposure data.
  • Develop a strategic vision and direction for initiatives supporting employee health and well-being.
  • Use data to identify drivers of burnout and implement interventions to promote well – being.

Clinical Oversight of Employee Health Programs and Regulatory Compliance

  • Provide clinical expertise and oversight of Workers Compensation, Workplace Accommodations (Americans with Disabilities Act) and Reasonable Suspicion of Impairment programs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor non-infectious medical surveillance programs and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. This includes prevention, exposure assessment, treatment for noise, asbestos, laser, hazardous drugs and radiation.
  • Develop, implement, and manage communicable disease transmission prevention and surveillance programs (vaccines, post-exposure prophylaxis, treatment, contact tracing).
  • Monitor activities for and ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, OSHA requirements and DOH policies.

You need:

  • M.D., D.O., or equivalent
  • New York and New Jersey State License Eligible
  • DEA License
  • BLS certification
  • Meet all the vital criteria for membership on the MSK medical staff and for appointment to the faculty of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
  • Certification by the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Occupational Medicine
  • Working knowledge of occupational medicine, preventive medicine, and primary care medicine, integrated disability management, and applicable government regulations
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing health and wellness policies and programs.
  • 10+ years’ proven experience
  • Medical Review Officer Certification Council (MROCC)

  • Good interpersonal skills including communication and collaboration.
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and manage change.
  • Strong strategic and planning skills to develop and evolve strategies to ensure sustainable programs.
