WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

As a result of some exciting programme wins, we currently have a permanent vacancy for a Senior Cloud Engineer to work alongside the Chief Engineer, Lead Solution Architect and Cloud Architect for our Government client. Supporting a multi-functional team and to manage the scheduling of project delivery, change and new business. This position is a part-time role and applicants must have SC clearance or be willing to undergo the clearance process, with the need to undergo DV clearance from successful start.

The preferred candidate will demonstrate effective application of Cloud Engineering in a data centre environment, with expertise and extensive knowledge across a variety of technologies and platforms, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft stack technologies (AD, DNS, GPO, etc.) and System Centre, SQL server, Linux (RHEL) server management and VMWare ESXi and VM hosting.

The role will be embedded in the technical Team supporting the transition, development & in-service running (inc. capability upgrades) of an IT application and Network solution providing support to a critical operational end user.

We are looking for someone with a passion for Cloud Engineering, ideally from a systems integration or data centre background. You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously to achieve day to day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables, whilst also owning a variety of activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPIs and SLAs. You must be an effective communicator, comfortable with directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.

The successful individual will be responsible for:

  • Provide infrastructure architecture skills and produce solution designs as part of the senior delivery team
  • Work with partner delivery teams to design, plan and implement modern, scalable infrastructure using a range of new and emerging technologies including automation
  • Lead on all infrastructure management and acceptance aspects including setting standards and providing your deep technical expertise to Leidos programme teams
  • Use the concepts and principles of verification and validation to produce relevant infrastructure designs across multiple subject areas
  • Collaborate with customers on all aspects of infrastructure management including the assurance and integration of infrastructure services to meet the needs of multiple lines of business
  • Recognise and exploit business opportunities by leveraging architecture and design best practice
  • Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context

WHO DO WE NEED?

  • Demonstrable experience of implementing solutions using:

    • AWS with Linux technologies
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes (AWS EKS)
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a DevOps environment
  • Experience of applying security to all workloads
  • Experience of working with CI/CD infrastructure pipelines
  • Demonstrable experience of automating deployment and configuration pipelines of COTS software and promoting through multiple environments
  • Experience of working Agile teams being aware of Agile methodologies (using Scrum or Kanban)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Candidate must be a UK National
  • Must be able to obtain a DV level clearance
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner certified

Bonus if You have;

  • Further AWS Qualifications in your area of expertise
  • Experience of working with the Atlassian toolset (e.g. Jira, Confluence), version control (Gitlab)
  • Experience with Defence systems
