As a Camera Systems Engineer, you will be a key member of the hardware team. Both a technologist and a leader, the successful candidate will develop and execute test strategies in order to debug, solve complex hardware problems and propose solutions.

 

The ideal candidate will be a leader by example, promoting positive company culture and fostering transparency throughout the organization. A Camera Systems Engineer will have a knack for prioritization, be driven by data and quantifiable metrics, and will emphasize engineering excellence within the team.

 

As a Camera Systems Engineer, you will have an amazing opportunity to shape the way we develop and test our camera products. We are looking for candidates with a solid background of either optics, imaging, camera module, or opto-machanism who has hands-on experience in testing complex systems to join our team. This role is ideal for an engineer who is a strong, independent worker ready to take on new challenges, and eager to work with cutting edge technology.

What You'll do

  • Define image quality requirements and test plans

  • Define, operate and maintain IQ lab space

  • Implement test capabilities in lab and manufacturing environments for lens components and full camera systems

  • Review lens design for a compact, high-quality, wide field-of-view lens and drive development at vendor

  • Develop an end-to-end model of the KeepTruckin imaging system from scene capture through to viewing of content in various consumption formats

  • Document lens design and delivery specifications as well as final system level image quality specifications

  • Tune ISP and imaging pipeline for optimal image quality

  • Collaborate with our algorithms team on calibration strategies for improving the image processing pipeline

  • Failure mode analysis and troubleshooting of undesirable image aberrations and artifacts

What we are looking for

  • You have 3+ years in an imaging systems role.

 

  • You are familiar with one or several of the following:

    • You are highly proficient at data analysis and image processing using Matlab, python, C# or equivalent

    • You are proficient with lens design tools such as Zemax, CODE V or TracePro.

    • You have a strong understanding of ISP pipelines and 3A algorithms.

    • You are proficient with CMOS sensor circuit design and familiar with MIPI/DVP/LVDS interface.

  • You have a strong understanding of image quality metrics for digital imaging systems

  • You have a strong background in optics and image sensor technologies

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication, including drafting engineering specifications and documentation

  • You are familiar with manufacturing processes for opto-electronics devices

  • You are familiar with camera manufacturing processes and could work with CM to improve the quality opto-electronics devices

  • You have experience with 3D CAD tools a plus

  • You have a BS/MS in EE, ME, optics, or equivalent
