Responsible for test and certification for Insulation and Components (f/m/d)

Milan, Italy

As our Responsible for test and certification for Insulation and Components, you will join our Technology Center in Europe, an organization leading continuous research and development activities on transformer components.

Your Responsibilities

  • You keep updated and valid the test certifications for HV insulation products (Bushings, tap changers, Insulation material and similar) by organizing and witnessing new verification test campaigns

This means to take care of type test or special tests for already released products that need repetition for different reasons: -too old tests, we want to repeat each 10y; -changes in the international standards;-changes in the critical components;-new processes/factories and similar (normally we do not repeat all type tests in this case)

  • You keep monitored the product portfolio by suggesting any new test requirement given by the International Standards

It would be good to have an active role in international standard or to be in contact with our internal experts to define impacts on testing, for instance new IEEE was just released and impact of test changes arrived late in our organization, we do not have a global view, but local activities

  • You'll be the reference for any Product development requests in terms of special tests requirements, by organizing them when needed, in coordination with R&D teams

R&D developments of new products may require new test or special tests, in this case you will be the contact to work with external/internal labs to develop correct methods and organize the test campaign; other topic can be HVDC type test for new product, support R&D in organizing these tests if requested, they can be also quite independent. It can be asked to support interpretation of results (PD patterns, correct test set-up and or similar)

Regarding tap changers, we are interested in developing external laboratories to support with tests like dielectric type tests

  • You are organizing frame agreements with external laboratories when strategic or needed for wide test campaigns

We are thinking in the direction to have agreement with external labs for all our tests and having always some slots available, so that we do not suffer bottle neck from test labs; it is requested to strategically develop some partnership and assure to have the capacity for all our coming projects.

Operational side:

  • Support on definition of equipment for HV, including DC, for test labs.
  • Responsible for test labs expansions or new creations in ToT projects
  • Standardization of testing procedures, including potential automation for handling the test object and testing connections.
  • Benchmark best practises on testing procedures with internal or external locations.
  • Support on production Technical Standards creation and maintenance in relation with testing activities.

Your background

  • Minimum Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Deep knowledge of the design/testing and experience in HV insulation components testing and or in developing test facilities for HV laboratories, preferably bushings and/or tap changers
  • Knowledge of diagnosis of testing failure like interpretation of PD patterns and or similar; interpretation of key parameters for insulation condition assessment like TanDelta, capacitance measurements and techniques like DFR (Dielectric frequency response)
  • Responsible team player with structured, proactive, self-driven and result oriented work approach
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering R&D role or similar with direct experience of testing.
