Job Description Summary

HVDC Projects are large and complex projects with multiple sites and multiple teams involved. Lead Project Cost Controller role is part of the Project Controls function and role is to lead the cost management of the project and coordinate with other project cost engineers to establish and control the full project Costs. The Lead Project Cost Controller works in close coordination with Lead Project Planner and Project Manager.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Support PM to align project budgets to as sold in appropriate systems
  • Support the Lead Project Cost Control engineer
  • Supports estimating, estimates and/or verifies the accuracy of the actual to date cost (material, labor, manufactured costs, suppliers invoices, timesheets, travel expenses..)
  • Aligns with planning to ensure forecasted cost risks are accurately captured
  • Maintain a register of potential cost risks
  • Maintain a register of actual and committed costs
  • Collaborate with 3rd parties on project cost
  • Checks and controls cost movements, compares with current scope and progress as well as with previous forecast. Also Compares with productivity factors and validates accuracy of estimates
  • Communicates cost status/forecasts/risk to functional cost owners and drives/supports risk mitigation
  • Presents all financial data in a transparent way, attends project and management review to present cost status
  • Provides change order calculations to ensure cost estimates are accurate
  • Updates changes in appropriate systems to ensure costs are aligned to the current situation
  • Aligns with Finance Controller to ensure reconciliation takes place between approved project financial data and books.
  • Aligns with planner to ensure costs and schedule are tied to enable accurate cost/schedule management
  • Support project close out and claims
  • Provide support to tenders

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified either in finance or engineering degree (with financial training)
  • Background in Project Management. Could be part of the graduate certificate or independent training

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience in cost estimating and forecasting, Project Accounting & Controlling (on large turnkey projects would be a plus)
  • Experience working with project management plans (PMP) specifications and estimates (PS&E)
  • Experience in the identification, monitoring and reporting of project risks
  • including interfaces with Project Control, and workload management
  • Start-up mentality -> chance to perform and faster promotions, chance implementing own ideas. Academy for further education

Technical skills / competencies

  • Cost estimating and forecasting
  • Project Accounting & Controlling
  • Scheduling
  • Data handling skills (Excel, SAP...)
  • Commercial awareness

Behavioural skills / competencies

  • Communication with different stakeholders on a daily basis is normal for you
  • Fluent in English is a must and German language is a plus
  • Proactive attitude
  • Thorough and precise
