Job Description Summary

The Global Packaging Leader will drive all packaging engineering functions across the global Gas Power division. They are accountable for leading the Gas Power packaging roadmap driven by Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SDQC) by ensuring all packaging material, packaging use, and packaging storage and handling meet the business needs and our customers' expectations. This includes developing the specifications for all packaging materials, testing to regulatory and quality requirements, and cost and design reviews with suppliers.

Job Description

Key Deliverables:

  • Development of a packaging roadmap and executable plan driving improvements in package performance, efficiency, cost savings and customer experience.
  • Accountable for all packaging related written technical test protocols, reports, engineering drawings, and ensuring packaging documents are created, updated / maintained and in compliance with company and transport standards; ensure packaging designs are adapted to the modes of transport, logistic cycle, storage conditions respecting company EHS and international transport standards.
  • Responsible for the establishment, monitoring, and communication of packaging budgets, key metrics, resource requirements, and project/milestone status to cross-functional stakeholders and business leaders.
  • Champion of the Gas Power packaging engineering function; developing the teams' capabilities and packaging knowledge, establish daily management process for leading the day-to-day workload of the global packaging engineering team.
  • Ensure accurate packaging specification, bills-of-materials, packaging instructions and other documentation to guarantee proper packaging of products and procurement of packaging components by suppliers and manufacturing sites.
  • Leads and collaborates with multi-functional teams and analyzes packaging performance indicators and complaint rates to identify trends, areas for improving the customer experience and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks and opportunities.
  • Assist the operational teams in resolving problems associated with packaging components, supplies, equipment and develop a culture of continued improvement in our packaging processes.
  • Assist and support the development of package design and specifications for new products in alignment with the new product introduction schedule.
  • Investigate customer problems/complaints concerning package performance and determine if corrective measures need to be taken to ensure packaging for the product remains safe, cost-effective, compliant to regulatory requirements, and utilizes the latest technological developments where applicable.
  • Conduct frequent audits at various points in the supply chain to enable safer, more efficient, and cost- effective packaging designs.
  • Expands scope beyond existing/upcoming initiatives and seeks new strategic initiatives that would bring value for the business via continuous assessment and challenging of existing processes.
  • Fosters and facilitates personal and professional development of the global packaging team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Packaging, Mechanical or Industrial) or Packaging Science and a minimum of 10 years of related field experience.
  • Demonstrated Packaging expertise within manufacturing operations, supply chain and new product development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a Packaging department and department staff members to successfully support business goals and plans.
  • Experienced with international / transport / HazMat packaging/requirements, packaging test methods and packaging equipment.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to effectively communicate packaging metrics, business risks, and strategies to internal and external business leaders.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present complex topics in a concise manner to both technical and non-technical partners
  • Proven track record of judgement in technical product and process development to make and facilitate decisions when information was incomplete or ambiguous.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate others to thoroughly and timely achieve results, with effective interpersonal skills dealing with people at different levels and in a variety of functions.
  • Experienced in working with multi-functional global teams and leading collaboratively to achieve business objectives
  • Demonstrates a self-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic approach
  • Capacity to think strategically and develop long-term process improvement strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Proficiency with CAD, Tableau, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, etc.
  • Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) certification
  • Travel required up to 25%.

The base pay range for this position is $137,100.00 - 182,800.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 15% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.

*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
