Onsite This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Brownstown, Michigan a full-time basis.

The Role

Accountable for providing Workplace Safety technical and regulatory advice, mentoring, instructing, and coaching to site/functional operations. This role is responsible for assisting Site Leadership with the following to maintain compliance with all GM Workplace Safety and regulatory requirements. Additionally, this role will analyze Workplace Safety data, communicate results and trends, and identify continuous improvement opportunities. The incumbent will also assess site Workplace Safety performance and conformance to requirements, ensuring a safe and inclusive work environment for all employees. This is a first shift position.

What You'll Do

Managing the site as Subject Matter Expert on Workplace Safety requirements;

  • Working in partnership with the local site leadership to support Workplace Safety cultural transformation
  • Developing and educating site employees to drive Workplace Safety cultural transformation
  • Developing partnerships with key site personnel including Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing Leadership, Human Resources, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics resources, and Health Services.
  • Engage in battery manufacturing and high voltage component safety.
  • Work independently to reduce and eliminate safety hazards.
  • Assist in Investigating accidents and/or injuries
  • Develops basic safety programs as directed to reduce job related injuries
  • Meet with local union representative and assists in resolution of safety matters
  • Assist in the design and administration of plant safety rules and instructions
  • Review new equipment and methods for potential hazards
  • Analyze safety statistics and develop recommendations
  • Assist supervisors in the safety training of employees
  • Provide Health & Safety support to the organization (i.e.: attend safety related meetings, participated in safety committees)
  • Assist other safety professions as required
  • Create reports and presentations as directed

Additional Description

Your Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety field
  • Bachelor's degree is required

  • Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and work to plan
  • Well developed analytical, organizational, and project management skills
