Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Global Technical Center - Sloan Engineering Center, Warren, MI, a minimum of three days per week.
The Role
As an Emergency Response Specialist you will be responsible for strategic design and oversight of the global emergency response program. Your role will be to help prepare our facilities and teams to respond effectively to threats and emergencies and to ensure operational integrity and effectiveness of emergency response standards, plans and tools. You will also assist GM locations in interpreting and complying with GM standards and applicable federal, state, and local laws related to emergency response. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

What You'll Do
- Provide strategic direction, quality assurance and subject matter expertise for GM's emergency response program and initiatives.
- Support the development and coordination of enterprise-wide strategic goals and objectives related to emergency response.
- Maintain and update the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) templates.
- Maintain and further enhance GM's global standards for emergency response.
- Provide focused oversight to ensure emergency response solutions are effectively implemented and fully utilized at GM sites.
- Develop and maintain full scale, functional and tabletop exercises for use at GM sites globally.
- Maintain and update content on the GM emergency response website.
- Develop and maintain a training program for Emergency Response Coordinating Teams (ERCT).
- Update and maintain ERCT roles and responsibility matrices.
- Review and enhance the GM incident management system for emergency response.
- Liaise with GM stakeholders, including but not limited to the following, to interpret or resolve conflicts pertaining to emergency response standards or policy: Site Security, Infrastructure and Corporate Citizenship (Facilities), Information Technology, Global Workplace Safety, Manufacturing and Risk Management.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college. Degree in Emergency Management or related field preferred
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in the physical security or related field
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience working on emergency response programs or initiatives
- Strong knowledge and/or proven experience in the following areas: Emergency/security operations and planning, Fire and emergency alarm systems, Building relationships and liaising with local emergency services, Conducting emergency drills and tabletop exercises, Developing and writing policies, standards, and procedures
- Emergency Management Certificate (PEM, CEM, AEM) preferred
