Job Description Summary

This role is for a Mechatronic, Electromechanical engineer who will contribute to the design and development of Ignition systems, Exciter. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing exciters and components. The role is focused on team driven execution of activities and requires project management and engineering technical skills.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor others in the analysis, design, test and/or integration related to Exciter, and ignition system that meet Unison standards, practices, and procedures, and meet the product/program requirements
  • Execute the design, analysis, and/or evaluation of assigned Engineering changes coming from suppliers or manufacturing shops using engineering principles and adhering to Unison standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for all Exciter products
  • Responsible and accountable for all projects assigned and ensure timely communication on status updates, identification of risks, achievable and workable mitigations etc., with internal and external customers
  • Provide technical mechanical engineering support to improve design, performance, manufacturing, supplier request or field issues
  • Effective communicate and provide recommendations to internal customers through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data related to Exciter products
  • Work in multiple projects at the same time, monitoring progress and quality and ensuring schedule requirements are met
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of an Exciter discipline.
  • Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute engineering changes throughout the lifecycle of the process
  • In-depth understanding of key Unison Business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of Exciter team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Utilize LEAN tools to improve current business products and processes
  • Check own and other people's work.
  • Recognized technical expert in Exciter Mechanical or Electrical expertise
  • Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams, mentor others in the organization
  • Ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance.
  • Lead the implementation of innovative analysis design, development concepts of processes and systems
  • Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
  • Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problem
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills
  • Execute FEA work for assigned projects

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electromechanical, Mechatronics or similar Electrical-Mechanical Degree
  • Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Sense of urgency to resolve customer issues quickly and efficiently
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Proven contributions in a similar role or function
  • Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
  • Demonstrated outstanding technical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Effective team building and interpersonal skills

Desired Characteristics

  • Circuit simulation use SPICE tools
  • Understanding of component tolerances and analysis using crystal ball or other tools to do monte Carlo analyses to predict performance across variations
  • Being familiar with High Voltage, High Current, High Temperature challenges to designing circuits
