Vice President Corporate Strategy

Pivotal role responsible for charting the strategic direction of the company, driving growth and ensuring long-term competitiveness in the rapidly evolving data center and digital infrastructure landscape. Working within the Office of the CEO, this leader will be responsible for identifying and analyzing critical technology trends, understanding shifts in market forces, characterizing resulting risks and opportunities, and crafting targeted plans of action in response to rapidly changing industry dynamics. The Corporate Strategy leader will collaborate closely with executive leadership, cross-functional leaders and teams, and external stakeholders to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities:

  • Outline Strategic choices/strategies: Provide thought leadership and outline strategic choices, with primary responsibility for developing and executing innovative, financially sound, and data-driven corporate strategies to attain business objectives, enhance market leadership and improve shareholder value
  • Maintain up-to-date market perspective: Conduct in-depth market analysis, industry research, competitive assessments, customer insights and emerging technologies to identify growth opportunities and potential threats. This includes staying up-to-date and proactively accounting for shifts in political conditions, social trends, and legal/ regulatory developments
  • Validate recommendations: ensure all proposed initiatives passed through rigorous strategic and evaluative gates before being recommended for funding and launch
  • Assist in M&A / partnerships: Collaborate with the executive leadership and cross-functional teams to drive strategic pursuits for investment consideration, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and partnerships, based on a deep understanding of external market dynamics
  • Frame Recommendations and Execution: Develop and frame strategic recommendations and provide market-validated data that enables Equinix to make key decisions related to profitability, growth, and transformation
  • Advise / alert C-suite on important topics / trends: Advise C-Suite leaders and board on pressing strategic issues, leveraging external insights and industry best practices, and actively contribute to the development and execution of long-term business planning
  • Involve cross-functional Stakeholders: Collaborate with products, services, and GTM teams to develop and implement growth strategies, including product development, pricing, and go-to-market plans
  • Continually Assess Performance versus Strategy: regularly review and assess Equinix's strategic performance (in collaboration with EVP, Business Operations), identifying areas for improvement and recommending forward-thinking actions
  • Assist with Communication: Develop and provide clear content for communicating and implementing Equinix strategy, including working with data analytics teams to develop and implement strategy-driven metrics
  • Enable performance-driven culture: Create a performance-driven culture that supports the development of a world-class strategy organization

Leadership characteristics of the role

Domain Expertise, Knowledge and Experience

Given the scale and complexity of equinix's digital infrastructure business, the corporate strategy leader should possess a strong understanding of:

  • Market dynamics, industry trends, and competitive landscape in the data center or digital infrastructure industry
  • Sustainability and environmental impact considerations
  • Emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning
  • Global economic and geopolitical trends
  • Regulatory and compliance landscape
  • 10+ years in a strategy role at a technology/consulting firm
  • Deep understanding of the infrastructure and platform domains, as well as enterprise technology more broadly
  • Strong understanding of Equinix's customers, offerings, organization, competitive landscape, and market opportunities
  • Experience in M&A and investment evaluation, with a focus on strategy and market potential OK perfect

The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is:

• San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $245,000 to $423,000 per year

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
