The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What you'll do:
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for driving manufacturing engineering and quality programs. You will facilitate efficient operations within the production area, optimizing existing processes, and ensuring production goals are met. You will own the full project deck, including productivity and cost reduction plans, in your area to create and maintain efficient and safe utilization of plant facilities. Day to day activities include:
- Continuous Improvement - Lead projects using the Eaton Business System approach to Lean Six Sigma principles. Investigate problems and recommend optimal solutions weighing economic return and compatibility with layout of plant facilities. Implement manufacturing cost reduction projects for methods, processes, and materials.
- Capital Projects - Identify new equipment and manufacturing technologies to make recommendations regarding equipment, plant layout changes, and material flow.
- Operations - Develop standard work operational procedures. Use lean and statistical tools and techniques to create process management and measurement systems. Align local quality efforts with divisional leadership to drive an effective quality assurance and continuous improvement strategy. Coordinate external facility contract services and ensure contractor compliance while adhering to Federal, State, and Eaton EH&S standards.
- Design - Partner with Product Engineering to ensure new designs incorporate provisions for maximum manufacturing economy. Design manufacturing fixtures and specify tooling necessary to implement processes and methods.
What will make you successful?
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who acts as a motivator to their team - driving activities to achieve results. You have a thorough knowledge of Six Sigma and/or Lean manufacturing principles and can simplify complex processes into efficient workflows. This role will diagnose and resolve complex electrical/control problems, including non-routine issues. This includes utilizing data analytics to ensure compliance with test standards, along with timely and accurate follow-up reporting - recording data, writing reports and processing documentation. We are looking for candidates who are diverse in their backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, and who can bring fresh and innovative ideas to our team.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in an engineering role supporting a manufacturing environment
- Minimum one (1) year of continuous improvement experience
- Minimum one (1) year of AutoCAD experience
- No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Syracuse, NY will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automated assembly and packing systems
- Versed in equipment investigation and recommendations
- Experience writing capital appropriation narratives and executive presentations
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
- Six (6) years of experience in engineering supporting a manufacturing environment
- Two (2) years of continuous improvement experience
- Familiar with metal stamping manufacturing process
