Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal is looking for aspiring journalists to join our News Associates Program in New York. This is a competitive post-graduate opportunity to work at the most trusted news organization in America.
Over the course of 24 months, you will receive immersive exposure to all the principal aspects of the newsroom through robust classroom-based and on-the-job training, including six months reporting in a regional U.S news bureau, with accommodation provided.
This program offers a comprehensive learning experience, providing associates with exposure to core areas of our newsroom. You'll rotate through various departments, gaining expertise in audience engagement, editing, reporting, social media and other essential areas.

- Audience Development: Learn how to connect with our audience, analyze data and craft compelling content for various platforms.
- Editing: Develop a keen eye for detail as you assist editors in refining stories for accuracy, clarity and style.
- Reporting: Hone your breaking news skills, develop sources and write compelling stories under the guidance of award-winning journalists.
- Social Media: Identify stories that have strong social potential, pitch, script and be on camera for social video.
- Other News Essentials: Depending on the needs of the newsroom, you may also gain experience in areas like data, graphics, podcasting and video production.
You have:
- Up to one year of journalism experience, including newsroom internships
- A demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment as part of a team
- Strong writing and data reporting skills, including experience using tools for web analytics
- A strong interest in current affairs, a hunger for news and an understanding of the competitive landscape for digital news media
- A commitment to a career in journalism
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
- A willingness to work overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, often with short notice
