Overview

In the role of Sr. Backend Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to directly impact the digital user experience for millions of Chick-fil-A customers. You will work on a team that strives to provide a positive and friction-free digital ordering experience for customers each day. You will have the opportunity to make key contributions to the design and implementation of systems that support digital sales.

Our teams work in an agile environment as we foster collaboration and provide a good mix of working with new technologies and supporting existing systems. It is a fast-paced environment, and there is no shortage of exciting things to work on.

The ideal candidate is experienced with software development and will be comfortable making technical decisions on their own and partnering with engineering leads to make larger decisions.

This role is based in Atlanta, GA and will follow our Flexible Future model which offers a healthy mix of working in person and virtually, strengthening key elements of the Chick-fil-A culture by fostering collaboration and community.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain new features and experiences to support and enhance the customer experience through digital ordering channels
  • Serve as a model developer in programming languages like Go, Java, JavaScript (Angular/React) and Python
  • Build durable, well-tested code with a strong commitment to quality and testability
  • Deliver software in an environment that provides a high degree of autonomy and trust, relying on your ability to communicate and build relationships with stakeholders
  • Engage in collaborative planning and product design exercises alongside close partners in other areas of the business
  • Exercise skills in infrastructure and deployment services like AWS
  • Participate in and support releases, closely monitoring product stability

Note - Working in a DevOps model, this opportunity includes both building and running solutions that could require off hours support. This support is sharedamongst the team members to coverweekends and weeknights. The goal is to design for failure and, using cloud-native infrastructure patterns, automate responses to possible issues so they can be worked during normal hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 yrs of relevant work experience
  • Programming experience in Java, JavaScript, Python, Go, or other comparable languages
  • Experience with SQL and data modeling


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working with an agile development methodology featuring sprints, points estimation, and daily stand-ups
  • Experience with source control systems like Git or Subversion
  • Experience implementing application security, software design patterns, and the SDLC
  • Familiarity with version control systems and code merging/branching; specific experience with git desirable
  • Experience with Kubernetes and AWS Infrastructure
  • Good interpersonal and team collaboration skills
