  • Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Drill Ready Preparation Leader (DRPL) Engineer through February 14rd, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.   

    Position Description

  • The DRP engineer takes the development area strategies and handover documents from the C&D (Characterize and Define) team, completes the detailed engineering plan, secures project funding, executes the project, and performs a lookback on execution. 
  • The position reports to the Chevron Argentina El Trapial Program Manager and coordinates and ensures successful execution of the development program across functional teams including drilling, completion, FE, Operations, HSE, SCM, CA, finance, and planning.  The role establishes and maintains fluent communication between Buenos Aires and ET Field and ensures functional alignment on scope, schedule, and cost.

  • Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
    • Scope, Schedule, and Forecast
    • Maintain accuracy of weekly rig, frac, drill out schedules
    • Manage execution scope changes due to a host of factors
    • Optimize execution within bounds of approved business plan
    • Monitor capital spend and provide monthly forecasts
    • Update full field forecasts based on current schedule & operationalized rates to assess capacities, investment timing and facility headroom
    • Generate monthly production outlooks for business plan process and commercial supply & trading
    • Pad Development Planning
    • Align with C&D team on area development strategy (landing, well spacing, type curve, sequencing, etc)
    • Plan SA&O activities
    • Create funding packages from handover documents
    • Completion Design Optimization (CDO Process)
    • Identify & propose optimal completion design & flowback strategy 3 months prior to frac
    • Asset Peer Reviews
    • Participate in type curves reviews
    • Provide feedback for reserves bookings
    • Finalize plans and implement SA&O or PI pilots
    • Pre-POP
    • Create IPSO Forecast to access facility capacity and de-bottlenecking opportunities
    • Create flowback card based on optimized drawdown strategy and facility design
    • Lead cross-functional pre-POP meeting
    • Flowback and Drawdown Management
    • Monitor well performance, pressure drawdown & sand production
    • Provide real-time choke management guidance
    • Lookbacks
    • Integrate geology, completions and operations to identify differences between COOP and offset performance. Provide feedback to factory at ET Deep Dive
    • Perform Rate Transient Analysis (RTA) to understand well productivity and completion performance
    • Provide support on BPR (Business Plan Review), Small Project Lookbacks, Long Term Lookbacks
  • Required Qualifications

  • PSG 22-24
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • +10 years’ experience in subsurface evaluations, from appraisal through development to provide guidance and technical review on development plans, reservoir management activities, and production surveillance analysis to optimize the value of the asset.
  • Capable of evaluating/forecasting gas, oil and NGL production, including generation of production type curves.
  • Experienced in Business Plan or budgeting processes.
  • Highly proactive in all areas and able to deliver high quality products on schedule.
  • Strong technical leadership role with proven ability to work with cross functional teams.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both Spanish and English within a cross-functional team, management and other stakeholders.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Petroleum Engineer.
  • Knowledgeable in Unconventional Reservoir operations and development is highly desired
  • Understand basic work requirements for Factory Model, playbooks and well construction cycle.
  • Knowledgeable in hydraulic fracturing and monitoring and optimizing producing wells under different artificial lift systems.
  • Fluent in batch & lateral drilling operations & plug & perf, zipper fracking and coil tubing operations.
  • Experience in Non-Conventional reservoirs (Vaca Muerta) and experience in building and maintaining reservoir models to mature development plans is desired.

    Additional DRP skills

  • 1) Technical Skills #1 - Proven understanding of UCR operations, technology, and practices; including subsurface assessments (Type curves, formations evaluations and well performance) D&C practices, Facilities Eng. operations, Production engineering and logistics execution. Clear understanding of the whole well construction cycle and facilities to support development, including frac water management and disposal. Strong technical background in reservoir management, formation & engineering evaluations.
  • 2) Technical Skills #2 - Proven ability of Business Plan processes or work plan & budget (WP&B) and Proven ability of Project management practices and economics evaluations. Proven ability in analyzing and delivering project economic evaluations.
  • 3) One Team - Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.  Applicant is expected to work closely with drilling and completions team, Facilities, commercial, HSE, SCM and Operations. Provides feedback to peers & stakeholders with focus on building team consensus. Shows good communication skills across multi-disciplined teams.
