The Banking Operations Visa Risk Monitoring (VRM) Specialist is responsible for handling inbound VRM hotline questions and the monitoring of written requests. Specialists for the VRM team must demonstrate initiative with minimal direct supervision when addressing their daily responsibilities. All assignments must be completed within well-defined guidelines in an environment that is fast paced and demanding. Consistency in exercising good judgment and decision making with respect to risk and fraud issues is key. The ability to effectively manage workloads and additional daily responsibilities at a high level of proficiency and quality is required.

Charles Schwab Bank follows the three lines of defense model of risk governance. The VRM Specialist is a first line of defense position for Charles Schwab Bank and assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal Bank regulations in the context of their responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:[HL1]

  • Support VRM hotline by answering inbound calls, from internal business partners to address and review exception-based requests related to ATM, Point of Sale, VISA and Zelle needs.
  • Responsible for the VRM functional mailbox by reviewing and responding to internal business partners to address and review exception-based requests related client Bank products and transactions.

What you have

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of 'challenging the status quo,' this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current or past experience/knowledge with Schwab systems is required.
  • 1 - 2 years financial services/banking experience with direct customer contact servicing Visa Check Card
  • Required experience within financial industry. Familiarity with financial industry operations preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated personal initiative to work through new and unfamiliar issues with mentorship while demonstrating good judgment and decision making with respect to risk issues.
  • Demonstrated work history of working well with others in a team environment.
  • Effective skills in the management of personal workloads with an emphasis on producing quality work with minimal errors in a demanding environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of Schwab systems related to both the Broker Dealer and the Schwab Bank sides of the business with respect to Visa debit card transactions is required (System knowledge to include, but not limited to: Visa CATS (Client Administrative Tools & Services), Visa Online, Client Central and various other systems that are used to review and research payment transactions

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
