Job description:

In the Aircraft Technical Services (ATS) department, we lead the installation and support of Intelsat In-flight systems onboard multiple commercial aircraft types.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will work with dedicated engineers finding solutions and resolving customer issues arising from installation or maintenance of commercial aircraft related to the Intelsat In-flight Connectivity platform. This schedule driven activity will help our Airline Customers efficiently meet their needs to keep aircraft in service accommodating the flying public's desire for connectivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for designing and development for electrical installation engineering documentation based on customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and development of electrical installation engineering documentation for Gogo in-flight entertainment/connectivity equipment to support airline customer requirements.
  • Participate in product design planning, customer meetings, preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, aircraft surveys, and aircraft installations.
  • Coordinate with external engineering groups to integrate third-party vendor equipment with Gogo electrical systems.
  • Use AutoCAD to perform design responsibilities for wiring assemblies and wiring installation drawings.
  • Attention to details and provide input to drafters for electrical systems design criteria to support aircraft entertainment/connectivity installations.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical equipment and avionics wiring and installation requirements to develop outstanding system wiring solutions.
  • Support integrated supply chain with manufacturability and obsolescence issues, product transitions to new suppliers, and cost savings initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of seven years of experience in aircraft-related engineering, including knowledge of aircraft electrical wiring and repairs; experience with Electrical Wire Interconnect Systems (EWIS);
  • Experience supporting alteration or repair development as proposed by airlines; avionics systems experience;
  • Experience using AutoCAD and CATIA; wire routing and installation in transport category aircraft; avionics component parts in the design techniques and manufacturing of cable assemblies;
  • Airline regulatory guidelines and design requirements for aircraft wiring; wiring assemblies & wiring installation drawings; working with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
