The Community You Will Join:
The Host Communications Team serves as the “last mile” voice of Airbnb to the host community in more than 60 languages around the world. We manage outbound communications, in global one- and two-way channels including email, push, in-product, our Host Resource Center, Community Center, and owned social channels.

The Host Communications Strategy Lead will report to the Director of Host Communications. We are looking for an empathetic and tech-savvy leader to drive communications and go-to-market strategies for global Host-facing campaigns. This role will be responsible for partnering with key product, policy, platform, customer service (CS), and regional teams to oversee communications and campaigns targeted at Airbnb’s community of hosts worldwide. The role will serve as a champion for the host perspective inside Airbnb and will help internal teams effectively message new product features and policy decisions to our host audience.

We are looking for a fantastic writer with a sharp eye for messaging and positioning, as well as a deep understanding of email marketing, social, and in-product channels. They will bring a tremendous passion for Airbnb’s mission, empathy and understanding of our community, and a go-getter approach. This role will bring together traditional product marketing and communications skills to drive adoption for key products and features, foster host success, and engender trust in Airbnb as hosts’ platform of choice.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Own positioning and launch communications plans for new features, products and corporate/community updates.
- Establish engagement and business goals for key announcements and campaigns. Work with analysts and data scientists to develop KPI and measurement frameworks.
- Develop campaigns, draft messaging frameworks and positioning decks, and oversee communications execution (including writing, creative, etc).
- Identify key audiences and segments to focus on, and build plans that support these goals.
- Work in partnership with owned one-way and two-way channel owners (Community Center, Resource Center, social, CX, email) to define editorial approach and messaging, then manage campaign-related feedback to the business to inform decision making.
- Develop proactive and reactive communications plans.
- Work with channel owners to report out on key reach and engagement metrics as well as relevant business metrics. Partner with the ops team to manage & distribute sentiment dashboards, both announcement-specific and ongoing.
- Champion the community and user in all decisions.
- Oversee creative collaboration between product design, content strategy, community and marketing teams.
- Serve as both an individual contributor and a cross-functional leader.
Your Expertise:
- 10+ years experience in marketing or communications, at a world class tech company or startup. Experience in platform or community-driven businesses is a plus.
- Best-in-class verbal and written communicator. Strong writing background and editorial acumen a must.
- Ability to translate complicated product features and complex community policies (reviews, fees, cancellation policies) into clear, compelling narratives.
- Writing samples and/or a portfolio of work to share.
- Ability to lead and drive initiatives across a matrixed organization, solve problems and influence cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing through cross functional teams.
- Versed in product strategy, design and development principles and processes.
- Managed creative agencies and led creative production.
- Conducted, synthesized and applied user insights, research and testing to marketing strategy.
- Passion for Airbnb. Experience as an Airbnb Host is a plus.
