Senior Actuarial Analyst

Harrisburg, PA / Remote

The Senior Actuarial Analyst role is designed for individuals who have demonstrated an advanced understanding and acumen for actuarial concepts. This position requires experience in performing larger, moderately complex analyses and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight. The role involves accurately analyzing dental experience to support forecasting, reserving, fee development, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting. Additionally, the Senior Actuarial Analyst actively supports internal and external customers by explaining and supporting analyses and methodologies. As an experienced team member, this role also involves mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize SQL to extract data and conduct comprehensive analysis ranging from client-specific to global (book of business) using experience from the largest, most complex datasets.
  • Provide guidance on actuarial reporting to internal and external customers.
  • Develop self-service tools and dashboards for improved data accessibility and decision-making.
  • Prepare and present documents supporting analysis to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct analysis, pricing, and risk management to estimate financial outcomes using actuarial modeling techniques.
  • Mentor and review the analyses developed by Actuarial Analysts.
  • Support fellow actuarial team members through the peer review process.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant bachelor's degree with 4 or more years actuarial experience.
  • Healthcare or dental experience.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and BI tools (Power BI or Tableau). Experience with statistical software (such as R, SAS, or Python) is a plus!
  • Actively pursuing ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) credentials.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • In-depth knowledge of actuarial concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Advanced understanding of statistics and statistical applications.
  • Familiarity with database design, structure, and tools.
  • Strong organizational, time management, project management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications, and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $74,000 - $170,900
