The Interiors Engineering department implements new passenger cabins and supports the reconfiguration of Delta's cabins as an effort to improve our passengers' overall experience.

Within Interiors Engineering, the department is comprised of 2 teams: Cabin Avionics and Cabin Design. Interiors Engineering is currently seeking a Senior Engineer, on the Cabin Avionics team, to support the design, development, and integration of cabin systems, such as, but not limited to, In-Flight Entertainment Systems, cabin lighting systems, and cabin communication systems.

The successful candidate(s) will serve as a Senior Engineer on the Cabin Avionics team whose roles and responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead reconfiguration projects for Cabin Avionics
  • Support cabin initiatives, both strategic and tactical, centered around cabin components, systems, or aircraft fleet type
  • Develop interior reconfiguration specifications for applicable aircraft in Delta's fleet
  • Aid in the design and development of cabin reconfigurations, new product development, and new aircraft specifications
  • Participate in design review meetings that may occur in different locations around the world
  • Support the initial cabin reconfiguration projects at off-site maintenance facilities in-person
  • Create engineering documentation that supports cabin reconfigurations
  • Ensures all supporting documentation complies with policies, procedures, and mandated regulations
  • Establish effective time and task management for all engineering projects
  • Coordinate engineering project(s) with internal/external customers
  • Meet performance metrics and team goals
  • Establish strong internal customer relationships
  • Practice safety conscious behavior with all operational processes and procedures

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Candidates for this position should have at minimum a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or aerospace Engineering with 3 years minimum relevant experience
  • Internal candidates must be performing satisfactorily in current position
  • Must be willing to travel as required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to independently remove small roadblocks and assist team or leadership with larger obstacles
  • Identify objectives and communicate when additional resources are required to complete objectives with senior level team members
  • Provide feasible solutions that are innovative, but practical, to solve difficult technical problems

  • The Supplemental Type Certification (STC) Process
  • CFR's and DOT regulations pertaining to the cabin interior
  • Use of Aircraft Technical Manuals (AMM, CMM, IPCs, WDMs)
  • Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA)
  • Application of Safety Risk Management in technical applications
  • Emergency Escape Path Lighting Systems
  • Aircraft Power Systems
  • Electrical Load Analyses
